Show and Tell – Thursday 28th February

After half term our theme will be jungle animals so for show and tell children can bring in their favourite jungle animal toy/ picture/ creation etc and talk about it. They should think about: why it is their favourite animal? Where does it live? Do you know any facts about your animal? How would you describe your animal?

Have a great half term and we will look forward to seeing you on Monday 25th February!

Show and Tell – 14/2/19

Linked to our learning on rhyme, children are to bring in 2 items that rhyme from home e.g. ‘cat/ mat’ etc. Give children a choice of 3 items, reminding them that it sounds the same at the end of the word and see if they can find the rhyming partners e.g. dog/ frog/ table etc.

Golden Child

Every morning and afternoon a child is chosen to be the golden child in Nursery. One of their special jobs for the day is to go around with the teacher and say either “good morning” or “good afternoon” to all of their friends while the adult takes the register. The Golden Child gets to choose how to greet their friends. So far we have chosen a high five, a hug, a fist bump and a wave. Can you think of some more fun ways that we can greet each other each day?

We feel this is a lovely start to the session, prompting friendships and confidence building for the children along with encouraging them to speak in a simple sentence as we also say “Good morning/ afternoon _____”. Here are some photos of us greeting our friends:

BigFoot Safer Internet Workshop

We were very lucky yesterday to have a visit from Bo the Bunny and Becky. We talked about what we use the internet for, Oscar said “play games”, Alice said “play videos”, TN said “watch videos” and Thorin said how we have a “computer at school”. We then became Internet Safety Secret Agents and our missions were to help Bo the Bunny to be safe when being on the internet. Haitham told Bo that if we see an unknown app we “ask a grown up” for advice.

Our last mission was telling Bo the Bunny that our names and information about ourselves are top secret. In order to keep our names top secret we came up with some secret agent names. Here were a few of our ideas based on our favourite colours and numbers e.g. “Blue 4”, “Pink and Purple 3”, “Pink and Yellow 4”, “Gold and Pink 10”. Lastly we sang a rhyme to remind ourselves how to keep safe online:

The internet is fun, the internet helps you, but if you have a worry, ask a grown up what to do.

Remember to have fun online but stay safe and secret!

Here are some photos of us on our secret missions:

If you need more information then please speak to a member of the Nursery team.
